Type 2 Diabetes

Although type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune deficiency, type 2 diabetes is often associated with obesity, age, family history, and physical inactivity. It has been shown that incorporating olive oil in to the diet, is one of the many things which individuals can do, to prevent, or reverse type 2 diabetes if they suffer from it. The Mediterranean diet (one which is high in mono and polyunsaturated fats, including olive oil), has been found to be the best diet for those who want to reverse the type 2 diabetes they suffer from.

A reduction in inflammation markers is a main benefit of including olive oil in to the diet. Reducing the risk of inflammatory conditions is a main benefit of this oil. In individuals who suffer from type 2 diabetes, it was also found that olive oil helped reduce blood pressure levels, reduce fatty acids, and reduce cholesterol. Systolic pressure being reduced in the individuals who incorporate the oil to their diet, helped with arterial conditions, such as blood clots, which were associated with this condition as well.

In addition to the reduction of type 2 diabetes, the olive oil also helped with heart health and prevention of heart disease. When blood pressure is higher, the heart has to work harder, in order to pump blood through the vessels, and down to the heart. By simply reducing these levels (which was namely found in type 2 diabetes sufferers), the heart did not have to work as hard, as it did when the blood pressure levels were higher. In addition to this, weight reduction was another main benefit of incorporating olive oil, as opposed to saturated fats and processed foods, which are so common in our diets.

Type 2 diabetes is tied to poor diet, high processed foods in the diet, and poor choice of fats in the diet. Of course family health can possibly pose a threat, but more often than not, type 2 is tied to our dietary choices. A simple switch from canola oil and other saturated fats (such as butter), to olive oil, is a great way to begin the possibility of reducing the risk of getting, or reversing type 2 diabetes that you suffer from. Not only will this condition be eliminated, but weight loss, reduction in heart pressure, and even the prevention of certain heart diseases is linked to olive oil, poly and monounsaturated fats, being replaced with the excessive fats and processed foods we currently consume in our diet.
